Welcome to the website for the Castlemilk Moorit Sheep Society.

We are an active society working with the Rare Breed Survival Trust to protect, increase and promote our rare sheep. This site is intended to provide useful and interesting background information about our breed and also provide a resource for communication between the Society and Members.

Open Farm Day near York
Our Chairman is having an open farm day on 8th May - an opportunity to see a number of rare breeds of sheep and, of course, Castlemilks. Details here

Mr Joe Henson RIP
We have heard with great sadness of the passing of our Founder Mr Joe Henson MBE on 5th October 2015; our deepest condolences to his family. Joe's wisdom and enthusiasm was always very much appreciated by our society members and we will all miss his support.
We had a great day at the 2015 AGM on the 27th
Thank you to all the members who came and to Mr & Mrs Hearmon who hosted. Reports and pictures will be included in the next newsletter.
We are delighted to announce our first Honorary President is Ms Bridget Parke
Bridget, who with her Redoak flock was one of the early Castlemilk breeders, will serve as President till 2016.
Do you have a blog or website where you post about your Castlemilk sheep and would like to share it with other members?There is a new section under links for members blogs/sites we have a few links here already but would love to hear from more members with websites.
Forum for society members
At the 2012 AGM we were asked to create a forum where members can chat to each other and exchange information. We have created a basic forum that is only open to society members but is unmoderated and members can open their own topics at any time. More details can be found under the menu option on the left including how to join.

The latest volume of the CFB is available in the new form of a PDF download. Go to the online flock book and select manage your flock and there is a new link to download the Castlemilk Moorit pages
